Brixton Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Brixton Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious global issue and we are fully committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Brixton Man and Van has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards any form of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, or child labour. We do not tolerate any practice that exploits individuals or deprives them of their freedom or basic human rights. This commitment applies to all aspects of our business, including our staff, contractors, and suppliers.
All managers and team leaders are responsible for ensuring that this commitment is embedded in everyday working practices. Any suspected breach of this policy will be taken extremely seriously and may result in termination of contracts or relationships with individuals or organisations found to be involved in modern slavery.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Brixton Man and Van provides local and regional moving and related services. While our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom, we recognise that risks can exist in any supply chain, including within logistics, vehicle maintenance, cleaning, equipment provision, and ancillary services.
We expect all suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners to share our commitment to ethical conduct. They are required to operate in line with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to demonstrate that their own suppliers and subcontractors do the same.
Supplier Standards and Audits
To address the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains, Brixton Man and Van has introduced supplier standards that clearly state our expectations in relation to labour rights, working conditions, and ethical conduct. We seek to work with suppliers who can demonstrate transparent employment practices and respect for human rights.
We conduct proportionate audits of selected suppliers based on risk, including the nature of the services provided, geographic location, and the level of reliance on temporary or agency labour. These audits can involve reviewing policies, requesting supporting documentation, and, where appropriate, on-site visits. If any supplier is found to be non-compliant, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within a defined timescale, or where necessary, discontinue the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our staff. Relevant employees, especially those involved in procurement and supplier management, receive guidance on recognising indicators of forced labour and exploitation.
We encourage all staff to remain vigilant and to take personal responsibility for helping to identify and report potential risks. Information about modern slavery risks and our policy forms part of staff induction and ongoing training where appropriate.
Reporting Concerns and Protection
Brixton Man and Van is committed to providing clear and safe reporting channels for anyone who wishes to raise a concern about modern slavery or unethical practices connected to our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised internally through line managers or senior management.
We will treat all reports sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. Individuals who raise concerns in good faith will be supported and will not suffer any detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up. We will investigate all credible concerns and take appropriate action, which may include referral to relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must continue to evolve. Brixton Man and Van is committed to regularly reviewing and strengthening our policies, procedures, and due diligence processes to improve the effectiveness of our actions and to respond to emerging risks.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every year by senior management to ensure that it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with relevant legislation and best practice. As part of this review, we assess the outcomes of our supplier audits, the effectiveness of our training, and any concerns or incidents raised, and we update our approach where necessary.
By maintaining a zero-tolerance stance, working closely with our suppliers, and providing clear reporting channels, Brixton Man and Van strives to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or supply chains.
